In sintering industry and steel industry for various heat treatment process cracked ammonia widely used. Cracked ammonia mixture of hydrogen and inert nitrogen gas, play vital role in heat treatment process.
Process:
Dry, anhydrous ammonia is oxygen free mixture of 75% hydrogen and 25% nitrogen by volume. It is a gas with considerable reducing constituents, low dew point, virtually, no impurities and thus capable of preventing oxidation of most valuable material like stainless steel. These unhydrus, dry ammonia gas from the cylinder / storage tank passing through the nickel catalyst at high temperature ( 900 deg and above), ammonia gets crack into hydrogen (75%) and nitrogen(25%). Traces of uncracked ammonia and moisture can be eliminated by the desiccant base automatic / manual operated, internal heat reactivated cracked gas purifier. The chemical reaction kinetics accelerated by nickel following is thermodynamic equilibrium
